APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
• To be considered for an audition, diplomas are not required but it is expected that singers have advanced training in vocal technique, sight-reading, musicianship, language studies and possess some stage experience.
• Opera Lyra Ottawa’s Opera Studio audition committee will screen all applications. An audition is not guaranteed. Applicants will be informed by e-mail if they have been granted an audition at least 2 weeks before the audition. It is not the policy of OLO’s audition committee to give post-audition feedback.
Audition date: December 14, 2011 beginning at 1:00 P.M.
• For those singers who audition, OLO will provide an accompanist at no cost to the applicant. Applicants may also bring their own accompanist at their own expense.
• All Opera Studio participants are expected to be or become members of the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association and as such receive appropriate remuneration as contracted members of CAEA. Return travel to Ottawa for Opera Studio participants who live outside the National Capital Region will be covered by OLO. Presently participants must provide their own housing while in Ottawa.
REQUIREMENTS FOR A COMPLETE APPLICATION PACKAGE
1. Application form completed by applicant.
2. Proof of Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant or visa status (ie photocopy of birth certificate, passport, or other legal documentation) at the time of application.
3. A concise and current resumé which should include all the following:
• academic background
• recent operatic experience (year, role, and company)
• operatic repertoire studied (excerpts and complete works)
• dramatic and theatrical experience
• awards and scholarships
• languages sung and/or spoken
• Actors’ Equity status or other union affiliation
4. One 8” x 10” headshot
APPLICATIONS must be completed and mailed or emailed to Opera Lyra Ottawa, delivered by November 21, 2011. Application material arriving by FAX will not be considered.
All material sent becomes the property of Opera Lyra Ottawa and will not be returned.
