OPERA STUDIO 2011/2012 SEASON
 10-WEEK CURRICULUM


SUBJECT TO CHANGE


Monday September 5 – Sunday September 18, 2011
•    Music coachings of Opera Studio repertoire with Judy Ginsburg
•    Masterclass and Private Lessons with John Fanning, Baritone
•    Preparation and Performance of Commedia dell’Arte Presentation with Alix Sideris; includes acting workshops
•    Meeting with representative from CAEA
•    Audit Cav/Pag tech rehearsals (not mandatory)
•    Attend performance of Cav/Pag (not mandatory)

Monday September 19 – Friday September 23, 2011

•    Diction coaching with Dr. Kathryn LaBouff, Manhattan School of Music, NY
•    Focus on Barber of Bytown, Studio concert rep and other rep if time allows
•    Group class on English diction followed by individual sessions then ensemble sessions
•    French and German diction also to be studied

Sunday September 25-Sunday October 2, 2011
•    Rehearsals and performances of concert programs

Monday October 3 – Sunday October 23, 2011
•    Sing role in Barber of Bytown (50 minute abridged version of Barber of Seville in English); created and directed by Ann Hodges
•    Staging rehearsals for Barber of Bytown
•    Operantics! rehearsed
•    Training session with Liz Ciesluk, OLO make-up artist
•    Performances of Barber of Bytown at NAC Fourth Stage

Monday October 24 – Sunday November 6, 2011
•    Perform in school tour of Barber of Bytown
•    Perform excerpt from Barber of Bytown for Operantics!

Monday April 2 – Sunday April 8, 2012
•    Coachings with Tyrone  Paterson
•    Masterclasses TBA
•    Rehearse for Opera Studio Competition
•    Perform in Opera Studio Competition
•    Perform outreach concert of Competition program
•    Attend performance of Tosca (not mandatory)

EQUITY, TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION INFORMATION

• All Opera Studio participants are expected to be or become members of the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association (CAEA) and as such receive appropriate remuneration as members of CAEA
• Return travel to Ottawa for Opera Studio participants who live outside the National Capital Region will be covered by OLO.  Presently participants must provide their own housing while in Ottawa.
